"Yes, Our glass processing factory is fossil fuel free still energy intense industry with major Scope 2 GHG Emission then Focused on Cooling & Heating System. 1. Cooling/Refrigeration System a. Energy Efficient Utility AC Upgradation of 36 units which has capacity of 105 Ton / 1,260,000 BTU b. Optimization of factory and office working hours reduced the 15 % utility bill and life span enhancement of equipment involved 2. Tempering Furnace - Heating Power Optimization a. TBM of 20 resistive Heaters with total capacity of 188 Kw b. 11 % of saving in process , Bed & Load Optimization."

"We targeted for 10 % energy saving for the year 2022 with actionable points arrived from Cross functional Sustainable team On Energy grounds strategy , we worked on rethinking the usual approach, innovative technology adaptation and process optimization . "These Sustainable Initiatives gave the strong belief and cultural change requirement towards rethinking the usual business approach and impact on Environment . "As Living Business 2021 event Winner , we started this year 2022 with more collaboration and Upskilling . We framed a Sustainability team of 12 members with all functional leaders and two stakeholders to be part of this initiative . To make this event more colorful we kicked this event at eastern coastal sea side dinner meet with sustainable low carbon food . This collaboration gives us more turnkey solution and helped us to identify then reduce the gaps with action plan . This positive results created the ambition loop in the organization to bring volunteers at all level in our journey"

"Energy Management will be continuous improvement project both in short term and long term which will be fueled with circular economy concept of revolving revenue . For example 8.39 % of Electricity saving generates the revenue of 0.236 Million Aed per Annum which will be invested for greener environment project and recognizing the contributors with long term incentives so that the acceleration will be exponential by motivated employees and interesting Management approach . This will help in our Ultimate Long-term goal of NetZero Future , with short -term target of 50 % energy Saving in 2030"
One of our key priorities is to reduce the impact of climate change and steer the transition towards Net Zero Carbon. Being part of the ACA Level 3 programme has reinforced our airport in establishing the framework of Carbon management addressing scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions and engage stakeholders.
BAC is committed to achieving net zero carbon by 2050. As one of our key priorities is to reduce the impact of our operations on climate change and transition towards Net Zero Carbon. BAC has established a framework of carbon management that addresses emissions and engages stakeholders throughout the decarbonization journey. BAC has managed to reduce it’s carbon footprint greatly with the development of the LEED Gold certified new terminal and continuo to reduce via adopting retrofit projects for existing facilities and integration of renewable energy planned for the upcoming years.
BAC has adopted carbon reduction targets in line with the Paris Agreement following the 1.5%ᵒC pathway that limits global average temperature increase to 1.5ᵒC. Thus, BAC developed a carbon management action plan that includes emissions trajectory and expected carbon reduction from all projects planned till 2050 with interim milestones every 5 years.
"Establishing a 2050 carbon trajectory has benefit BAC to plan different strategic sustainability projects that will contribute to reducing carbon emissions and climate change impacts globally to protect the environment. the project evaluated all resources required to achieve all interim goals and carbon reduction that will be achieved per project highlighting the environmental benefit. BAC is also engaging its stakeholders in the net zero journey by holding workshops in the BIA environment committee comprising key stakeholders and establishing the BIA Environment Management Guideline to steer the change towards transitioning operations to net zero and ensuring environmental protection."
This project of establishing a carbon trajectory was key to achieve one of key sustainability goals which is reducing carbon emissions.

Sustainability committee of BAC chaired by Chief of development & Technical Officer and comprise of a team from different departments that collaborated to assess the feasibility of different carbon reduction projects in terms of effectiveness, return on investments, carbon calculations, etc. Post to the feasibility studies of different proposed projects, the feasible projects were selected in the carbon trajectory to be implemented to reach Net Zero carbon by 2050.
Project has been divided into multiple stages. The first stage is to setup a manure drying plant as a primary processing stage. Land and licensing is currently being worked on at this stage. In parallel, we are also looking at funding partners for the latter stages.
Rahmania Mall, a one-stop community shopping & leisure destination in Sharjah, has been committed to implementing the highest standards of green & environmental practices since opening in March 2021, aligning with the UAE's and Sharjah's vision for a clean future, & the UAE Green Agenda 2015-2030.
Energy Management strategies were laid out as soon as construction was complete, covering all aspects of data collection, analysis & energy consumption control. The lack in existing automation was identified & hence, an automation project was put forward to achieve 20% savings compared to the previous year, estimating a 1 year ROI. The yield started recording from 2022 and the retrofit project is expected to complete during Q1 of 2023.

Al Fanous Glazing comes from a family legacy of over a 120 years of glass and window making. As a firm that’s seen business in over 8 countries, the imminent changes in the industry have taught us that success lies in constantly evolving the two major components of our business; Product & People.
Reduction of the SEWA consumption in the factory by making adjustments to the electric and water consuming devices. Moreover, making slight changes in the business model in order to make high energy consuming machinery redundant and outsourcing tasks which were not regular. This involved strategizing with the Business Development Manager, Operations manager and the Production supervisor. This new strategy has led to a net 25% reductions in monthly electricity bills over a period of 48 months leading to Annual Savings of approx AED 36,000.
"Reduction in net energy consumption and waste emission. Reduction in SEWA Bills. Reduction in cost of utilization, energy consumption and servicing and maintenance of high energy consuming machinery. Upgrade of all lighting in office, factory workshop and labor accommodation from Halogen/Tube lights to LED."
"Starting with the conversion of 80w tube lights in the factory and labor accommodation to 18w LED lights, and 40w halogen bulbs in the office to 12w LED bulbs, not only have we increased the brightness quotient all over the factory with higher performing LED’s, but we have also reduced the cost of maintainence, cost of electricity and over all energy consumption from 8.7KW to 1.6KW. Additionally, we have also changed our business model to outsource fragments of the glass manufacturing processes to companies that dedicatedly do the niche processes. This led to a reduction in maintainence cost for low running machinery whilst also allowing us to save approximately 96.5KW of power consumption load on our factory. This of course meant that the cost of logistics had gone up for the outsourced work, but the net delta in cost made it more viable to unload parts of the manufacturing process."
Our strategies have created an overall saving of energy consumption whilst also allowed us to reduce bottomline expenditure, allowing us to secure more projects..

"Operations manager and factory managed collaborated to identify the machinery that had not been running at optimal levels. This was due to a lack in number of regular orders. The Business development manager linked in to analyze the trend of glass manufacturing sales which were dipping due to higher production costs due to heavier maintenance. This helped us in understanding that we must outsource the manufacturing components and optimize our costing. Factory manager and Ops manager took the lead on swapping the lighting by understanding maintenance costs and consumption of older lights."
With an aim to optimize energy consumption levels, we are hoping to convert our vehicles to hybrid/electric. Out of the current 12 vehicles in the company, we have successfully swapped 2 ICE vehicles to electric and aim to continue this trend in the future. We have also installed an EV charger in the factory to facilitate this conversion in the future.
